TAHRA scholarships awarded for the 2020-2021 academic year

Each year TAHRA awards two $1,000 scholarships to applicants who reside with one of their member organizations.

This year TAHRA's Scholarship recipients are Yalexis Payne and Shayevon Blue-Craig.

Yalexis is a 33-year-old single mother who is motivated by her daughter. Family time is very important to Yalexis, who strives to find a balance between full time work, continuing her education, and caring for her daughter.

From an early age Yalexis knew she wanted to be a nurse, and she currently serves as a CAN/Home Health Aid for Abilis Health. To continue her nursing career, she is currently enrolled at the Paris Technology Center in LPN courses. Upon her graduation Yalexis plans to then pursue her master's degree in nursing.

Shayevon is a 26-year-old single mother who is currently pursuing her degree at Aust Peay State University.  Shayevon currently works as a PSA in the healthcare field taking care of her elderly clients. Though Shayevon loves working with her patients, she hopes to advance and work more behind the scenes in the lab.
